Program Manager

We are pioneering the introduction of innovative and disruptive low-profile multiple-beam satellite communications terminals for mobile and fixed applications. These highly integrated terminal systems combine elements of new advances in microwave lens optics, phased array antenna technology, and dynamic beam pointing control systems. Our IP has applications across a wide range of market sectors including; aeronautical, land mobile, maritime, and 5G, providing broadband, multi-beam, two-way communications with dynamic tracking of geostationary and non-geostationary satellites or terrestrial nodes.


As part of its progression into the next phase of our corporate growth strategy, Isotropic Systems is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a history of successful execution of complex projects by way of thorough planning, prioritisation, risk mitigation, status reporting and good project management practice.

Reporting into the Director of Program Management and working closely with the SVP of Engineering and associated functional heads together with Product Line Management, the Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the company objectives are realised through excellence in execution of projects across all activities, both internal and external. This includes internal product development cycles in relation to terminals for satellite communications, company infrastructure projects, customer engagements and external funding activities; for programs that are delivered within budget and on schedule.

The Program Manager is an important role in the organisation that drives projects to a successful conclusion, guiding the project teams to achieve clearly defined business goals, anticipating delays whilst developing mitigation strategies and reporting on project metrics of scope, schedule, cost and risk. They have the responsibility of partnering closely with cross functional stakeholders to ensure activities for new product introduction (NPI), or other business projects remain on track with progress and status communicated across the organisation in a transparent manner.

They will be expected to manage simultaneous product development cycles that transition our cutting-edge technology into products (involving both internal and external stakeholders), as well as internal infrastructure projects as appropriate. Identification, use and optimisation of appropriate software tools, procedures and processes that self-manage the group’s activities in a formal framework is expected.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to plan, schedule and manage multiple projects and their dependencies. Work with functional heads and stakeholders to deliver results that ensure timely and robust delivery of projects.

  • Identify and report against key metrics of project scope, schedule, cost and progress in relation to internal and external project / customer requirements. Assess actual performance against the project plan and make adjustments consistent with plan objectives.

  • Ability to anticipate program challenges and escalate risks to delivery in advance. Lead cross-functional efforts to mitigate risk, develop contingency plans, or adjust project scope, resources, or time lines as needed. Negotiate with and/or influence team stakeholders to resolve project level challenges.

  • Manage project scope and deliverables through a structured change management process to ensure customer expectations are met whilst protecting corporate objectives. Manage change control through planning and communication as requirements and priorities shift.

  • Participate in the development of project management methodologies, standards, associated tools, deliverables, communication plans, and operational cadence necessary to ensure consistent project execution.

  • Direct performance of team members as appropriate. Leverage personal expertise as well as project leadership to coach and mentor project team members as needed.

Skills and/or Experience Needed:

  • Advanced degree in Project Management with relevant product development experience or advanced degree in a relevant scientific field with higher Project Management degree or professional body certification and experience.

  • +Six (+6) years of directly relevant experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, sometimes across multiple sites.

  • At least three (3) years of product development experience, preferably for wireless communications equipment across consumer, enterprise and government markets. Experience with all phases of product development from concept to prototype to volume manufacture to market introduction.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability to coordinate teams across multiple projects and remote locations simultaneously. Ability to work with engineering, product management and finance teams to drive projects to conclusion. Ability to independently manage all facets of a project with minimal supervision.

  • Exceptional customer/client interaction and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present accurate written and verbal high-level status reports with tact, discretion and diplomacy in dealing across the organization and with customer/client interactions. Fluent in written and spoken English.

  • Demonstrated ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all levels of employees in a team-oriented environment.

  • Willingness to challenge assumptions.

  • High degree of analytical skills and experience with associated PM tools.

  • Must have the eagerness and motivation to adapt to and excel in a fast-paced work environment in a variety of project management areas.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and other PM software tools.

  • Ability to travel on request.

Desired Attributes:

  • PMP, APM, PMI (or similar) certification.

  • Ability to communicate calmly in a well thought out response (verbal and written) including dissemination of complex data to an executive team.

  • Ability to negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and suppliers.

  • Ability to effectively present information in team meetings and design reviews as needed.

  • A good understanding of the operation and product development expectations for products for wireless communications.

  • Experience with EVT, DVT and PVT product development gates (or similar).
