Lead Integration and Test Engineer
Isotropic Systems is seeking self-motivated candidates to join a fast-paced team working on cutting edge technology in a startup environment. Isotropic is pioneering the introduction of innovative and disruptive low-profile multiple-beam satellite communications terminals for mobile and fixed applications. These highly integrated terminal systems, typically operating from Ku-band through K/Ka-bands and above, combine elements of new advances in microwave lens optics, phased array antenna technology, and dynamic beam pointing control systems using analog and/or digital signa processing. They may operate as fully electronic beam steering systems with no moving parts or as hybrid electromechanical steering systems. Our innovative low-cost Satcom terminals will be used on stationary and mobile platforms for a wide range of applications including: aeronautical, land mobile, maritime, and 5G, providing broadband multiple beam two-way communications with dynamic tracking of geostationary and non-geostationary satellites or terrestrial nodes.
Isotropic is seeking an outstanding lead integration & test (I&T) engineer to build the team and manage and coordinate all aspects of the I&T functions for its complex, cost-effective, and manufacturable satellite terminals. The position reports to the CTO. The successful candidate will have experience and a successful track record of managing and coordinating the product integration and test validation and verification of complex systems to ensure and sustain Isotropic’s competitive position in the Satcom terminal markets. A key area of focus is development of and support during design and implementation for production-level calibration and test of multiple product families of SATCOM terminals, with test and validation of RF, mechanical, software, and electrical subsystems. This role will interface closely with the related design teams to ensure that functionality and capabilities are capable of implementation in a high-volume production environment. This position will have a close relationship with the QA team to ensure reliable and testable designs. Responsibilities include: test plans and procedures for specific operating conditions; validation; diagnostics; familiarity with relevant test methods and equipment; coordination with subsystems teams including RF, beam tracking and control, signal processing, mechanical, packaging, environmental, thermal management, and reliability; acceptance criteria; and reporting test results.
Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in leading a team in the test and integration of complex systems, with strong managerial and technical capability. Desirable qualities include: familiarity with procedures verifying and validating product interoperability and connectivity with other systems on aeronautical and maritime platforms; certifications such as understanding ARINC and DO-160 requirements and acceptance criteria for aeronautical applications; interoperability with other wired and wireless communications systems and standards; and regulatory compliance such as for interference mitigation. The candidate should have strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills, enabling effective coordination among all teams, familiarity with test procedures and software tools. A degree in engineering or related technical fields is essential with an advanced degree such as MS or PhD a plus. The candidate should have at least 10-15 years’ experience in relevant areas of integration and test engineering such as satellite and/or terrestrial communications and terminals.
